Thirty minutes outside Sapporo is a great selection of Onsens at Jozankei. Hotels offer the traditional Japanese experience with Tatami rooms and lovely food. We go at least once a month. Or try one of the many day use onsens in Sapporo which only cost 400-500 Yen. A great way to try out the onsen experience cheeply.
